We’ll say this one more time: There is no love lost between Dominick Cruz and Cody Garbrandt.

The two protagonists for Friday’s UFC Bantamweight title have been verbally going at each other ever since Garbrandt called out Cruz at UFC 202. Their war of words has been very well-documented, we really don’t have to talk about it. But during Wednesday’s media question and answer session, one of them finally blinked from all the trash talk. And that’s definitely worth our time here.

Using Garbrandt’s girlfriend as his latest storyline, Cruz calculatedly took Garbrandt out of the interview picture. The challenger stormed out and Cruz had the cameras all to himself, unloading more verbal assault on Garbrandt.

“She shouldn’t be hollering at me on social media. Keep her to yourself. As far as I’m concerned, I did you a favor and her a favor. She obviously wears the pants in the relationship or else she wouldn’t be having to defend you. So keep your fling on a string, keep her mouth shut cause this is big boy business.”

The latest saga stemmed from Garbrandt’s girlfriend posting to her Instagram page a video of Cruz being choked out by Urijah Faber during their first encounter. Cruz fired back at the girlfriend and replied:

“Don’t get involved in big boy stuff little girl – [you’re] just going to get yourself embarrassed. Just have the tissue ready for your boy toy when he loses, that’s your job :).”

Several days ago, Cruz brought back the girlfriend issue, telling media that Garbrandt’s girlfriend probably wears the pants in their relationship. Garbrandt has took exception of Cruz posting to his GF’s Instagram page, calling it personal. But that’s why Dominick Cruz is the Dominator. He runs his mouth on virtually everything he can.

Going back to Wednesday, Garbrandt didn’t engage Cruz in another verbal tussle. Instead, he offered to join the champ in his room for a physical confrontation. It appeared though that Garbrandt was prevented by UFC security from advancing their title fight two days earlier. But one thing was clear: One finally walked out and it wasn’t Dominick Cruz.

Wit Garbrandt gone, Cruz took the screen solo and on full frame. He then proceeded to call No Love a savage:

“He’s just angry that I’m right. That’s why he’s pacing. That’s why he unhooked himself. And the other reason he unhooked himself is because he has to be a self-perceived savage. A savage can’t do this interview. A savage can’t control himself during this stuff. A savage has to act crazy, has to act emotional. And he has to do this, because this is what an ‘alpha,’ a savage, does.”

During the weigh-ins, the two once again put on a show, nearly coming to blows during the stare down:

Both fighters made weight and tomorrow, there will be no more security to pull them apart. That’s gonna be great.  We’ll finally see who’s going to walk the talk.
